Job Description: Seeking an experienced Scrum Master / Release Manager who will provide effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership, and coaching skills in our Agile environment. • This individual will be responsible for enforcing the rules of Scrum, removing impediments from their teams while promoting self-management and constantly improving our standards of work. • Upon Sprint completion, the Release Manager will oversee promotion and deployment of software to a production environment.
Scrum Master Responsibilities: • Organizing and facilitating regular scrum meetings including daily stand-ups, sprint and release planning sessions, retrospectives, demonstrations, and other project planning and issue resolution meetings as required. • Working with project leadership to maintain the backlog and update team status in our agile process management tool. • Improving transparency on team progress through burn down charts, velocity reporting and sprint and release progress. • Coaching teams in effective use in ongoing adoption of agile principles and practices. • Assisting with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs. • Identifying and removing/preventing impediments and distractions. • Proactive reporting of risks, blockers, and team progress. • Facilitating discussion and conflict resolution. • Recommending changes to our existing processes.
Release Manager Responsibilities: • Plan for, communicate, and execute software releases to production environment at the end of our Sprints. • Work with our Configuration Management Board to gain approval for, and report progress on software releases. • Write and/or update documentation related to software releases (Build Plans, Implementation Plans, As-Built Documents, etc) • Keep project leadership apprised of Sprint and Release progress, and identify risks and issues.
Required Skills: • Must be a self-starter and be able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development. • Must be capable of managing multiple priorities. • Well-rounded individual with great analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, enthusiasm for taking ownership, a strong commitment to quality, and the ability to work closely and communicate effectively with developers, product management and stakeholders. • Communicate with other management, developers, product managers and technical support specialists on product issues. • 3+ years experience with Agile (Scrum, XP, etc) • 3+ years in leadership roles • Experience working under Agile Methodology is essential. • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures. • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle. • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personality types and understand technical issues.
Preferred Skills: • Experience working with Rally is a plus.
